July 2019
Villa: This is an ideal location, being the last property at the end of the street it felt secluded. The views out the back with the mountain backdrop are simply amazing. We found it easy to walk down to local Warungs and the beach (but we visited in cool season in July). The Villa comfortably slept 7 in 3 rooms. There are two full bathrooms on the main floor, accessed through each of the two main bedrooms – those in the top floor room share one of the bathrooms. There is a toilet on the main floor behind the kitchen, so you don’t have to go through the bedrooms to access a toilet. The Villa is simply amazing: great open space on the wrap around porch, clean salt water pool, huge garden and lawn where we played cricket and football. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook your own meals. The Staff: Iluh manages the kitchen and keeping the house clean. We asked her to prepare a dinner for us on our arrival, which was tasty and convenient. Iluh provides a fantastic breakfast and can offer meals as needed. Putu the house manager was very responsive to any needs. We were fairly independent in organizing our own drivers and trips to the national park, so we didn’t need much help. But if needed, Putu is obviously well connected.
Local Food/Activities: *There are many local Warungs. We found Warung Bukit to be one of the best, located on the same Jl. Arjuna as the Villa – great food at fair prices. Restaurant Frangipani was overrated for what you get.
*Snorkeling can be done right off the main Permuteran beach. You can view the man assisted ‘biorock’ structures where coral grows and heaps of fish live. This is easy to access and great for younger kids and I believe better than the Menjangent Is. trip.
*If you leave early in am, you can walk up the large hills behind the villa. First head to the right to avoid the small cliffs and then pick your way up the left side. Great views. Plan to spend 90mins plus for return trip.
